Woman’s unhinged attack on former boss

A WOMAN has been fined after throwing drinks on her former supervisor after running into her at a bowls club, six years after leaving the job.

Maria Frances Keating, 53, faced Townsville Magistrates Court this week where she pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court heard that on April 27 2018, Keating and her former supervisor had both been at the Cudtheringa Bowls Club in West End.

Police prosecutor Mark Fenlon said Keating has approached the victim, throwing the contents of her drink at her, with the ice from the glass striking her on the face

"The defendant has again walked past the victim," he said.

"The defendant has yelled at the victim 'I remember you, you f***ing b***h … you're not protected by work now, you're on my turf, come outside'."

Mr Fenlon said Keating walked away but later approached again and threw her drink onto the victim a second time and was escorted off the premises.

The court heard Keating had retired medically from stress at her job six years ago.

Magistrate Ross Mack said he accepted the behaviour was an "aberration" for Keating but "more's expected of people than that".

Keating was fined $750 and a conviction was not recorded.
