Woman injured in motorbike crash

A WOMAN was airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital yesterday afternoon in a serious condition after the motorbike she was riding crashed at the side of the Brooms Head Road at Taloumbi.

Her male passenger was taken by ambulance to Maclean District Hospital with injuries to his shoulder.

The accident occurred at 2pm on the Brooms Head Road, just past the Mogul Brahman Stud.

Nathan Brown, of Taloumbi, said his wife came upon the crash scene. She alerted her husband, who called triple-0.

An off-duty ambulance officer arrived shortly after and administered CPR to the woman, before paramedics arrived from Maclean and Coffs Harbour about 25 minutes later.

Mr Brown said the victims were coming from the Brooms Head direction and appeared to have come off their bike at the bottom of a dip in the road.

There was no other vehicle involved.

Police yesterday afternoon were not able to comment on the circumstances of the accident.
