Nominate for Woman of the year

CLARENCE MP Steve Cansdell is reminding local residents to nominate someone as the Clarence electorate’s 2010 Woman of the Year.

The Clarence electorate includes most of the Clarence and Richmond valleys local government areas.

“Nominations close next Friday, January 15, and so far only a couple of nominations have been received, which is disappointing,” he said.

“I know there are a lot of women out there who work tirelessly behind the scenes and give so freely of their time who would be most worthy of this title, so I encourage people to nominate someone they feel deserves such recognition.

“Last year we recognised tireless local community worker and cancer campaigner, Pauline Plant, who was also one of the top 10 finalists. Previous winners have been Aboriginal leader Lenore Parker, Lower Clarence Relay for Life fund-raiser Wendy Rose and charity champion Peg Maven, who are all tough acts to follow.”

People wishing to nominate someone should call Mr Cansdell’s office on 6643 1244 for an application form.
