Woman trapped in two-car crash

PEAK hour traffic in South Grafton was brought to a standstill yesterday following a two-car collision in Ryan Street.

The crash occurred about 8.30am at the intersection of Ryan and James streets when a late-model Nissan Micra and an early model Toyota Land Cruiser collided.

An elderly woman who was driving the Nissan, was trapped for about half an hour as a result of the collision. Her foot was trapped under the brake pedal but her injuries were not considered to be serious.

She was taken to the Grafton Base Hospital.

The Nissan was extensively damaged and the Toyota received minor damage to the rear passenger side.

A crowd of onlookers watched as the woman was cut free.
