SUNSHINE Coast pooches have put their best paws forward at the inaugural Woofstock Mooloolaba.

First held in Eumundi in 2010, the festival that gives new meaning to the phrase "gone to the dogs" has garnered a following of thousands over the years.

More than 1000 pups and their dedicated owners enjoyed a day full of events yesterday.

Competitions included the waggliest tail, fashions on the field, the next K9 top model and The Voice Best Singing Dog.

Event organiser Dave Daly said Eumundi was still the biggest event, but he was keen to see dog owners from the other side of the Sunshine Coast be involved.

"Some people just won't drive to Eumundi, and it's a great area here (in Mooloolaba)," Mr Daly said.

There are plans to expand the festival to Brisbane next year, with organisers negotiating the use of the Power House.

Mr Daly said his ultimate plan was to see the festival stretch to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

It will return to Mooloolaba in 2015.

Noosa resident Ashley Pearson took her two-year-old Australian terrier Hally.

"It's a great social thing for her," Ms Pearson said.

Woofstock Eumundi will be held on Sunday, September 14.
