Yamba Fair Butchery’s donation is a cut above

"MATE he's an absolute legend," Graham Goscombe grins as he shakes the hand of Yamba Fair Butcher owner Mick Shepherd.

Graham, who is catering officer for the Yamba RSL Sub-Branch, along with secretary John Wade, have come early to the butchery to surprise Mick with a thank-you plaque for his donation to the Yamba Anzac lunch.

But Graham says the plaque doesn't even go close to showing their appreciation.

"We can't thank him enough," Graham says.

"We approached him to getting some meat for the Anzac lunch, and he said - 'Yep it'll all be good'."

"Twenty minutes later we come back, and there's six kilos of all sorts of meat, all cut up, ready to go."

"And when we asked him how much, he just waves us away. Tells us it's on him."

Mick smiles back at the story, "Mate - it's the absolute least we can do," he replies.

"The sub-branch do such good work for the community, if we can show our appreciation in any way it's worth every cent.

"If it wasn't for those Diggers mate, we wouldn't live like we do, so we all do what we can."
