YAMBA Buccaneers Rugby Union Club has begun preparing for this season at Turners Beach, and will train for the next few weeks at 6pm each Tuesday and Thursday.

The Far North Coast Rugby Union competition takes on a different format this year, with first and second grade sides playing together in First Division, and one-team clubs such as Yamba playing in the Presidents Cup competition.

This format should suit Yamba and its supporters with a return to the 2pm kick-off and no prospect of having to play de facto first grade sides.

An added feature for this year is that the Iluka Cossacks may be resurrected, and thus the return of the Head of the River local derby contests.

Some new recruits, and being organised, and a welcome addition to the Buccaneers' playing strength will be new doctor in the team, Dave Cannon.

His experience will strengthen the Yamba pack.

All players of any standard or age are welcome contact coach Lee Everett on 0475 893 977 or get along to Turners Beach for Buccaneers training sessions.
