Yamba riot accused walk free

ALL adults facing riot charges over what was known as the Valentine's Day riots in Yamba last year, in which a police car was torched and pelted with rocks, have walked free.

The remaining six adults appeared in court today, but riot charges were dismissed after the magistrate ruled the police evidence was too unreliable to lead to convictions.

The only charge to be sustained was that of failing to comply with a noise abatement notice and that was dealt with by way of a bond.

The police vehicle alone could be valued at more than $100,000.
