Yamba website runs hot
SINCE Yamba was named the best town in Australia by Australian Traveller magazine last week, visits to the town's website have skyrocketed.
www.yambansw.com.au used to average around 5000 hits per day, but when the news broke last Wednesday website traffic jumped to 80,063 hits in one day.
The website is run by the Yamba Chamber of Commerce and contains everything from accommodation options, how to get there, Yamba beaches, arts and a list of products and services available in the town.
By Friday website hits were down to 15,000, but still three times higher than average.
The NSW Minister for Tourism Jodi McKay has congratulated Yamba on its number one spot.
“Yamba's top-town status is timely given last week's launch of a new $155,000 joint marketing campaign for the North Coast from Tourism NSW, Virgin Blue, Newcastle and Gold Coast airports,” Ms McKay said.
“People will be able to tap into the great travel-and-stay deals offered through this campaign and see for themselves why Yamba is deemed the best town in Australia.”
