Yamba’s weekend sports booster

SNEAKERS and lycra aren't the only things flooding Yamba this weekend as businesses brace for a solid economic injection.

Blue Dolphin Resort manager Andrew Parr knows too well the benefits of such an event at this time of year and said he was prepared to be rushed off his feet.

"As far as villas and hotel accommodation go, we're pretty much chokkas once we cater for walk-ins," Mr Parr said.

He said during what was typically a quiet time, it was nice to have a rush of business so close to school holidays.

"This is a really good time for us because holidays are still a few weeks away and so this generates extra business in what is a quieter time," Mr Parr said.

"Any event like this is good for Yamba - anything that attracts a crowd."

And crowds will not be sparse today as Yamba also hosts the North Coast football grand finals at the Yamba Sports Complex, and if it is wet weather, the Lower Clarence netball finals will be at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre.
