Ice-cream for guessing date

FOR a kid, prizes don’t get much better than a year’s supply of ice-cream, thank you very much.

The Foley sisters Jorja, 5, and Rianna, 8, of Westlawn, won their weekly treat at Grafton’s I Scream store for guessing the correct opening date of the Grafton Saraton Theatre – September 2.

In truth, it was mum Sarah who guessed the date and put her daughters’ names on the entry.

In doing so, she has committed to a weekly trip to Grafton’s only dedicated ice-creamery for 12 months.

“I was just thinking, spring, new things ... I can’t remember whether I thought about it being a Thursday knowing premieres are usually screened on Thursday – basically it was a fluke,” Sarah said.

“I’d forgotten all about it and a friend told me I’d won on Facebook.”

Little Jorja confirmed what many of us already know – that ice-cream was the best food in the world. And her chosen poison? Cookies and cream.

Rianna said mint was her favourite flavour but she would try a few different flavours over the year.

She said she’d already told her friends about the win who approved saying it was “cool”.

Sarah said the irony was that she had just won her work’s privately run “biggest loser” competition.

“I’ll have to use it as my treat,” she said.
