Yorke cops fine over urine test

COFFS Harbour trainer Gordon Yorke has pleaded guilty and been fined $7000 by Racing NSW following a finding of increased testosterone in his gelding Mooltan at Grafton’s race meet on January 18.

Stewards conducted an inquiry following Mooltan’s urine sample, taken subsequent to the gelding’s win in race 4, the 4UP Maiden Plate, (1100m).

Evidence was taken from Yorke and other officials in Grafton on January 18. Yorke pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 of having brought a horse to a racecourse for the purposes of engaging in a race and that a prohibited substance was detected in a post-race sample taken from such horse.

Under the powers of AR177 the stewards disqualified Mooltan from its first placing and amended the placings to read: 1st – Pondicherry, 2nd – Jacabar, 3rd – Guarantees, 4th – Za Gold.
