Young riders revving it up
THE DirtWerx junior team will take centre stage in the main arena tonight and tomorrow at the Grafton Show to showcase their skills and promote the sport to the wider community.
With riders aged from five to 18 years old, organisers said the team was raring to go.
"The kids are very excited and have managed a few practices in between showers of rain over the past few weeks," said event organiser Barb Willis.
"Most of our riders are local primary school children and they will be eager to hear the crowd get behind them as they put on their display," she said.
The DirtWerx juniors last performed at the Grafton Show in 2010, when the kids had fans on their feet and received an ovation fit for rock stars.
"We have lots of different levels of riders that are members of the club," Ms Willis said. "Some are really high-flyers and competitive and others enjoy riding at their own pace, making friends and just simply having somewhere safe to ride their bikes."
The club is holding a "come and try day" on May 26 and 27, free to riders who are newcomers to the sport.
Places are limited and bookings are essential. Contact Bruce or Narelle Rankin 6642 5977 or visit the display at the main entrance to the Grafton Show in the trade section.
The club also holds recreation days where there is no racing, just cruising around the track.
The South Grafton Motor Cycle Club is located at Gnudwoc Park Raceway, Old Lillypool Rd, South Grafton.
