THE legacy of Keanna Eustacia Kruger continues to live on in the hearts and minds of the Gladstone community a year after she dies of Hodgkins Lymphoma.
September 23 marked the 12-month anniversary of Keanna's passing after a courageous battle.
Husband and widower Brad Kruger said the past year had been extremely hard.
"She was everything to me," he said. "Not a day goes by where I won't think of her. I miss her more than I could miss anything."
The beautiful young woman who married her high school sweetheart on March 27, 2012, is remembered by many for her smile and selflessness.
Marline Kruger said she felt the presence of her daughter-in-law everytime a butterfly passed.
"She gave us so many good memories," she said.
"Sitting down having a chat and watching her smile and laugh. Now an angel looking over us and keeping us safe. You'll be in our hearts for ever and we love you so much."
Many people Keanna encountered agreed she had taught them a valuable lesson about the value of love and life.
