Young’uns on the ball for junior football carnival

IF YOU like your junior football, there is only one place to be tomorrow.

More than 200 games are set to be played at South Grafton's Rushforth Park today as teams flock to South Services Gunners Junior Soccer Carnival.

The carnival will feature teams from a range of clubs between Ballina, Casino and Sawtell from under-six through to 16s.

Gunners president Shanon Tough said he received enormous support from the club's senior ranks.

"I've been overwhelmed by the massive support from our senior men and women and from the junior parents. It makes everything a heap easier," Tough said.

Tough put the carnival's popularity down to its competitive nature.

"Weekend football is only competitive from 12s but our carnival it starts at 10s," Tough said.

"I think it's the only competitive carnival the 10s get to play in.

First game kicks off at 8.30am.
