Angourie Surfer Chris Zaffis in NSW team

ANGOURIE surfer Chris Zaffis has finished seventh at the NSW Junior State Surfing Titles held at Watonga Rocks, Lighthouse Beach.

In the process Zaffis qualified for the NSW team to compete at the National Junior Surfing Championships at Yalingup in Western Australia in December.

"I'm stoked to make the state team," Zaffis said.

"It will be a good trip with the team and there should be some good waves over there."

While Zaffis was knocked out in the semi-finals in punchy one-to-foot conditions, Maroubra's Jackson Giles prevailed to win the Under-18 Boys title.

Newport's Holly Wawn won the Under-18 Girls, Jack Murray from Lennox Head in the Under-16 Boys and Avoca's Macy Callaghan the Under-16 Girls.

Earlier this week Zaffis won the NSW School Under-19 Surfing title in a groundbreaking week in the water for the Maclean High student.
