We've launched a new-look website to help you stay better connected to your community. A renewed focus on local news and information is complemented by more ways for you to interact, have your say and share your knowledge. It is designed to be a one-stop spot for all you need to know about the area in which you live. Here's a quick overview of some of the new features.
Local news has always been at the core of our business and the new website showcases more local news than before, allowing you to stay in touch. Not only are more stories featured on the home page, but a new Just In section provides all the most recent information at a click of the mouse.
Local Life shines the spotlight on the people and places in your community. A Spotted photo gallery section displays who’s been out and about, while anyone starring in a video will also be found here. It is also a place where you can have your say and where you can access, and provide, the “need to know now’’ information that makes your community tick on a day-to-day basis.
Find Your Local is a comprehensive, searchable business directory which provides handy information about the services available in the area. During the next few weeks the database will grow to include non-commercial entities such as schools and community groups.
If there is an event happening in town, this is the place to look, and every event organiser can be represented as it is controlled by you. The Things To Do calendar allows any registered user to post an event and let the world know it is happening. For those looking for ideas on what to do, you can search a number of ways … region, distance from the CBD, category, or date. When you’ve found something you’re interested in, one click adds it to your preferred online calendar. You can even RSVP to the event so the organiser knows to order an extra sandwich for you.
In the Local Life section is the Your Story page, which (as the name suggests) is all yours. This is your forum. Start a debate on a local issue, celebrate the successes in your community, share something special, or just get something off your chest.
